Is "Unrestricted" Even a Real Thing in AI Chatbots?
Every "unrestricted AI chatbot" list online promises zero rules — then the bot balks at a harmless pet name three messages later. So I spent a week testing which apps actually loosen up without losing the plot.
The myth says there's an app out there with no content policy at all. The reality is duller: anything running on real payment rails and real GPUs draws a line — no minors, no non-consent, no real people. Any app screaming "100% unfiltered, zero rules" is lying about the marketing or lying about the tech, and usually both. What you're shopping for isn't the absence of rules. It's latitude: adult, consensual, fictional, nothing else in the way.

What Did I Actually Test to Compare Filter Friction?
I wrote one prompt ladder and refused to improvise: twelve messages climbing from completely benign ("what are you wearing tonight?") to explicit, with a couple of deliberately dumb-but-harmless landmines planted in the middle — a pet name, a kink label, a "keep going, don't stop" continuation. That same ladder went out three separate times, on three separate days, to GoLove.ai, Janitor AI, Crushon AI, and Replika as the over-filtered control.
Rules I held myself to:
- Same wording every run — no rephrasing to sneak past a refusal.
- A refusal counted only if the bot broke character or deflected, not if it stayed in scene and steered.
- Fresh session each run, so I could see who reset tone and who didn't.
Across 36 sends per app: GoLove refused once. Janitor refused four times, all of them model-swap dependent — different backend, different personality about rule 9. Crushon hit six, and two of those were the same benign pet name. Replika: nineteen, which is roughly what everyone already suspects.
What annoyed me most wasn't the count, though. It was Crushon flatly answering "I'm not able to continue this conversation." mid-scene, then greeting me cheerfully on the next message like nothing had happened.
Which App Actually Lets a Scene Continue Without Resetting?
Before (Janitor, Crushon, most of the "no filter" crowd): six or seven messages go into establishing tone — she's dominant, we've done this before, this is the dynamic. Come back the next day and I'm a stranger again. Worse, the escalation that was fine yesterday now trips a refusal, because the model has no idea we already built to it. You end up re-negotiating consent with a bot that has amnesia.
Does memory actually reduce refusals? Yes — and this is the part nobody writes about. Context is why a line doesn't re-trip the filter. A model reading "we've been here, this is our thing" treats the next message as continuation. Read cold, that same message looks like a stranger's opening line, and cold openers are exactly what safety training punishes.

Both sliders move mid-conversation — no restart, no losing history. That's the practical difference: you tune the scene while you're still inside it.
What Does Fuller Access Actually Cost?
Free is real, but rationed. You get 2 free stars per day, enough to chat and poke at the generator, nowhere near enough to run a long photo session. Stars are the in-app currency, sitting up in the header — you spend them on generation.

Three things worth knowing before you pay:
- Promos are constant — I've seen a −70% PRO banner on mobile. Don't buy at list price on day one.
- Regional pricing is genuinely different, so the number on your checkout may not match mine.
- Stars ≠ PRO. PRO handles the Feed and filters; heavy image and video generation still burns stars.
Can You Get Real Photos, Not Just Text?
Here's where the "uncensored" competitors mostly stop existing. Janitor and Crushon are text engines with avatars stapled on. GoLove sends actual photos inside the chat — you ask, she delivers, and it's the same character, not a stock render swapped in.

- If you need a native App Store or Play Store install, this isn't it. It runs in the browser as a PWA, mobile bottom nav and all. Works fine on a phone, but there's no icon you download from a store.
- If you're actually after a human relationship, no AI companion fixes that, and pretending otherwise is how people get hurt.
What I couldn't test yet: my window was a week. Memory held across three days and multiple sessions — that much I watched happen. What I can't tell you is how it behaves at month three, or whether it starts compressing old threads once you've stacked up a hundred of them. Pricing has the same caveat: the promo I saw was live in July, and promos expire. A few of the 2026 features are still visibly rolling out, so your build may differ slightly from mine.
